The Great Texas Panel Jam Re-cap
The Great Texas Panel Jam is made up of 100% volunteers. Over the span of three days 20+ of Texas’s best pinstriping and automotive artists showcased their skills for the public to watch during The 64th Annual Dallas Autorama. Each auction featured 30+ unique art pieces that were auctioned off to show spectators during the Autorama, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Scottish Rite for Children’s Hospital.
The Great Texas Panel Jam 2024 was a huge success! Together, with our revamped event, we raised $37,700 for Scottish Rite for Children. This was the second largest annual donation from our artists and volunteers since the panel jam’s inception in 2011.
Hosting the Show
In past year’s events, I have attended this show as an artist. For the last two years, I’ve had the absolute joy of working the event as a co-host with my friends Jack Fleming, Alecia Osserman, and my husband, Morgan Cook. We learned so much about hosting a large event like this last year and put a lot of organizational effort through out the year into the 2024 event. For starters, we hosted a “call for art” and made special artist invites that gave us direct contact and clear communication with our group of 25+ artists.
We invited award winning artists, HotRod Jen and Todd Hanson, as our VIP artists. On their own dime, they flew down and joined us for all three days!! It was a pleasure to meet them and paint side by side.
Every morning, artists and volunteers converged at the Original Market Diner for a hearty breakfast before the day’s paint slingin’! On Saturday night, we all met up for an artists’ dinner at a local, historic, Mexican food restaurant for some drinks and laughs.
The Great Texas Panel Jam Re-Brand!
From online marketing and new show banners, to actually cutting and painting metal panels for artist ‘canvases’, we had so many companies step up to help us!! You can see a list of our current sponsors over at our website. Please support the companies that support The Great Teas Panel Jam!
We created a brand new logo that features our late friend Arja’s pinstripe design and a new (and very popular) artist event t-shirt with the slogan, “Not a Dying Art”. You can grab one of these official GTPJ shirts, and support our cause here!
I donated a few pieces of custom made art to the event and got to make three pieces while I was there that sold for over $1k each.
It is an absolute inspiration to come together with my fellow Texas artists and spend the days painting with one another for such a meaningful cause. Be sure to follow @greattxpaneljam for future dates, more information, and all artist features!
We could not host this event with such success if it weren’t for ALL the volunteers involved. From auctioneers, hospital staff, sponsors, artists, and the Dallas Autorama coordinators, we are sincerely thankful!! Until February, 2025!
