Hemmings Artist Feature: Kate Cook
Hemmings Motor News strives to enhance the experience of the collector-car enthusiast by publishing high-quality products. The publication was founded by Ernest Hemmings in Quincy, Illinois, in 1954. The first issue consisted of four pages, and 500 copies were sold at 50 cents per copy. Today, Hemmings has more than 219,000 subscribers, paying $31.95 per one-year, 12-issue subscription. They support the collector-car hobby by attending more than 100 car shows and related automotive events each year throughout the country.
I was ecstatic and honored to be the featured artist on the Hemmings Blog. My favorite excerpt from the write up on my studio: “Kate’s husband and biggest cheerleader Morgan encouraged her to take the leap of faith and paint full time. It’s because of his support, Kate is able to live her dream, one illustration at a time through her studio Asphalt Canvas Custom Art. Our biggest takeaway is that anything is possible when you have love and support around you.”
