My Interview with Bogi from All Girls Garage
Every Wednesday, Bogi, from All Girls Garage, has been hosting Instagram Live “Happy Hours” where she interviews influential tradeswomen in the automotive industry! Some of her guests have included, Barbie the Welder, Emily Williams Reeves, and Kristin Cline aka Grease Girl, just to name a few of my favorite interviews!
Bogi is an automotive industry advocate, trained BMW technician, and founder of the award-winning repair shop, 180 Degrees Automotive, in Arizona. She owns her new shop, Girl Gang Garage where she encourages women to learn automotive repair and challenges the reputation of the automotive industry by building/restoring classic cars with an all girl team. Bogi is also one of the female mechanic hosts of All Girls Garage, a popular how-to automotive show on MotorTrend Network.
In this conversation we talk about the lack of training in the formal art education system on the Kustom Kulture art movement. We touch on my lofty goals to some how integrate art forms such as pinstriping, airbrushing, and sign painting into the world of fine art and formal art galleries. Bogi asks about the time I won a national art competition for Red Kap Work Wear, where I had the chance to attend SEMA as their featured artist in my first year of business. Most importantly, Bogi and I found that we share a very similar sentiment when it comes to pursuing our dreams: If the goal scares you, push through the fear and do it anyway!
