There’s something about a long drive that brings clarity.

It’s not just the steady hum of the engine or the scenery rolling by—it’s the space it creates. The kind that lets you think, breathe, and sometimes say the things that matter most.

I’ve had some of my most meaningful conversations behind the wheel. With my dad. With my husband. And hopefully, someday, with my own son!

That rhythm—of tires on asphalt and sky stretching wide—is what inspired my latest series of paintings, Naturally Aspirated.

Each painting in the series features a side-profile car parked beneath a bold, expansive sky. Most of the canvases are the same miniature size, with the same horizon line—but the landscapes shift. Some skies are soft, others dramatic. Some feel like a calm morning; others, like a moment right before a storm. Every color choice is intentional, guided by the car’s presence and the mood it carries.

    They’re not just car portraits.

They’re moments of freedom captured in enamel—when machine meets nature and stillness meets motion.

I started this series because I wanted to capture that in-between feeling. The kind you get when the road opens up and the world goes quiet.

It’s peace, but it’s power, too. Have you felt this glorious tension?

Welcome to Naturally Aspirated just in time for Father’s Day in honor of the men in our lives who drive us forward—on the road and in life.
