Unsolicited Encouragement: When Grace Finds You First

Unsolicited Encouragement: When Grace Finds You First

Have you ever opened your inbox expecting junk—but found encouragement instead?
Not a promo. Not a pitch.
Just a few kind words from someone who saw you… and said so.

That happened to me recently. And it reminded me just how powerful unsolicited encouragement can be—especially for creatives who carry so much behind the scenes.

Tune into Episode 16 of The Curated Craftsmen™ podcast for my in-depth thoughts on how creative entrepreneurs can benefit from this idea:

We usually hear the word unsolicited and think:

Unwanted advice

Inbox spam

Opinions we didn’t ask for

But when was the last time someone gave you a kind word you didn’t expect—but needed more than you realized?

A Moment That Made Me Stop

As a confident woman and artist, I’ve learned to carry my struggles privately.
I don’t post every hard day. I stay focused, polished, and productive.

But recently, I had to turn down a creative opportunity that really mattered to me.
And as I said no, some tears welled up. Just for a moment, I couldn’t hide how much it hurt.

A few weeks later, that same person sent me a message.
Not for anything. Not in response to something I’d shared.
Just a kind, grounded note—completely unsolicited.

She reminded me of who I am, not what I do.
And her encouragement helped lift me out of a pit I didn’t even realize I was still standing in.

That’s when I remembered:
Not everything unsolicited is negative.
Sometimes, it’s grace.

What This Episode Will Remind You:

Encouragement doesn’t need an invitation.
The best words often come when you’re not asking for them. When they do, they shine like light in the dark.

Not everything that’s unsolicited is unhelpful.
There’s a difference between noise and nudges. Unsolicited encouragement carries quiet clarity.

Your presence matters more than your performance.
In creative work, we feel pressure to earn affirmation. But grace doesn’t work that way. It sees you—not just your output.

You may have already been this kind of grace to someone else.
A passing comment. A text. A kind post. Don’t underestimate what your voice can do. “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” Proverbs 16:24

The next time something kind and unexpected lands in your inbox, pause.

Let it land.

Then find a way to send some of that kindness back into the world, unsolicited.
